Sonic Junky Equalizer app review: enhance your listening experience with a range of audio EQ customizations

Reviews

Introduction

This is a great app for music aficionados who want to enhance the music they play through their iPhone, and with a 7 band equalizer interface and real-time adjustment of various frequencies, you’ll be able to get exactly the sound you want.

Whether you are a raucous rocker or a jazz junkie, the presets in this app alone are more than enough to take your music listening experience to new heights.

Being able to adjust the individual frequencies in real time really is the icing on the cake, so to speak, as it enables you to make minor tweaks to the presets until your ears are positively humming with delight.

Too Much Low End? No Problem!

Although I’m usually quite satisfied with the audio quality I get through my iPhone earphones, I didn’t actually realize how much depth and texture was missing until I had a play around with the 7 band EQ settings in Sonic Junky Equalizer, and that’s coming from a musician!

You begin by simply importing some songs, and once you begin playing them, you can start to experiment with some of the settings.

There are 11 different EQ Presets to choose from including common settings such as Jazz, Rock, Classic, and Dance, plus a few extras including Lounge, Deep, Treble, and Bass.

Crank It!

If you’d rather go solo and take control of the EQ sliders yourself, you can set the EQ Presets to Off and start adjusting the individual frequencies until you find a sound you like.

That more or less sums up the core functionality of this app, but you can also turn off EQ altogether and just use Sonic Junky Equalizer as a standalone music player if you like. There are also buttons for locking the EQ settings and locking the app entirely.

I really like this app overall, and I think it offers a fantastic level of functionality for a free download, so I would definitely suggest checking it out because you could be missing out on a much richer sound when you listen to music through the standard iOS music player.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • 7 band graphic equalizer
  • 11 EQ presets to choose from
  • Change EQ settings in real-time while playing your songs
  • Lock the EQ settings or apply Master Lock to the whole app

Cons

  • There is nothing negative to say about this app

Final Words

As someone who has had varying levels of involvement in music production over the years, I like to think my ears are relatively well-attuned to different audio frequencies.

With this in mind, I’m very happy with some of the sounds Sonic Junky Equalizer can produce, and I would recommend this app even to those of you who don’t know the first thing about music because the interface is very self-explanatory and you’ll be able to pick it up in a matter of seconds.
