ABC11 First Alert Weather app review: comprehensive weather forecasting and severe weather updates

Introduction

This is a fully-featured weather forecasting app which features a range of handy features enabling you to very easily view the current weather conditions for your location, as well as having access to a whole cavalcade of content from the ABC11 WTVD Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville studios.

ABC11 First Alert Weather is fairly standard affair in terms of its functionality, although I particularly like the way you can save multiple locations because this is perfect for checking the weather forecast for your hometown, place of work, and the location of your loved ones, all in a matter of seconds!

Accurate and Reliable Weather Forecasting

When you first start up this app, it will use your current location to provide you with a Live Radar view of your area and a basic overview of the current weather conditions which, in my case, aren’t looking too promising right now!

Just above the map are a couple of tabs you can tap to view a seven-day forecast which will show you the high and low temperatures and chance of rain, and an hourly forecast which also give you a little more detail including wind speed and direction.

You can also tap the exclamation mark icon in the top right-hand corner to listen to the weather report in audio format, which I think is perfect for those of you who are on the go and can’t stand around staring at your iPhone.

 

Rain, Rain, Go Away...

In addition to the basic weather forecasting, you can also access the ABC11 Hurricane Tracker and Severe Weather Outlook, which will provide you with a comprehensive overview of impending severe weather conditions in map and text formats respectively.

Much of the content within ABC11 First Alert Weather can be shared with your friends and family online via Facebook, Twitter, and email, so this app is great for keeping an eye on vulnerable loved ones who live in areas which are prone to bad weather because you can always keep them updated if necessary.

Final Words

As I mentioned at the start of this review, the functionality, and even the layout and interface of this app are all very standard, following a very common theme.

I think this is a good thing because it is a tried and tested formula, and it works very well!

I really like the way the content is laid out and the map imagery is all of a very high standard, so if you’re looking for an easy-to-use weather app with some reliable features and a nice amount of extra content, I don’t think you can go wrong with ABC11 First Alert Weather.
