If you’ve ever played word association games with your friends then you’ll absolutely love Chain of Thought. It has you thinking on your toes and linking words to make interesting associations and proceed through each progressively difficult stage.

It has taken me quite a while to actually start writing this review because this game is so addictive!

I keep picking up my iPhone and thinking “Just one more round,” and before I know it, another 10 minutes has passed me by! This is an awesome game of word association and as you might have guessed, I would definitely recommend checking it out!

One thing that really struck me when I first started playing this game is how easy it is to quickly jump into the action. The interface has a great thought bubble theme, and you can tap on Play to get started almost immediately.

There are a few ways in which you can play Chain of Thought, with the first being Solo Play. As you might imagine, this is simply a single player mode which enables you to play without being connected to the Internet.

You can also play in a turn-based fashion with a friend by selecting Pass ‘N Play mode, or alternatively, you can compete with online opponents via Game Center, again, in a turn-based manner.

 

 

Think Outside the Box

The premise of the game itself is actually pretty self-explanatory. You’ll be presented with a word to get you started and then you have to select the associated word from a selection of 10 others.

You’ll receive bonus points for guessing the words as quickly as possible, but make sure you don’t rush because the penalties are severe for wrong answers! You can also tap the question mark in the top left-hand corner to receive hints, but if you can get through each round without using any, you’ll receive extra points, so use your hints wisely.

I’ve noticed that the gameplay dynamics can change a fair bit as you whiz through each level. I find some levels very easy but then I’ll come across a word that will leave me totally stumped. The problem is, I’m too stubborn to use hints unless I absolutely need to, so I keep losing points by guessing incorrectly!

This is a simple game with a simple concept which I think the developer has executed perfectly.

Chain of Thought is fantastic because not only is it a heap of fun, it’ll also get you thinking outside the box, so to speak, as you are forced to make associations that wouldn’t ordinarily come to you naturally.
