What child doesn't love Dr. Seuss? There is just something about his books that are engaging, fun, and of course educational. You just can't go wrong with them! The Dr. Seuss's ABC - LITE app is dedicated to helping kids with their alphabet and reading skills all while having fun.

Just a Small Taste

This is the lite version of the app so you are only given the first few pages of the book, but trust me that is more than enough to have your kids hooked. My toddler absolutely loves Dr. Seuss and this book is a favorite of his so finding an app version of it was a major score and earned me some Mommy brownie points in the process.

The app gives you three different modes which are Read to Me, Read it Myself, or Auto-Play. Kids will tap on the words and the narrator will speak them. The words are also highlighted as they are read to help with understanding. If you touch the pictures words to describe the item touched will also be spoken.

Now here’s the really fun part: you can have the narrator read the book or you can record the whole book yourself and your child can then use your voice as the narrator instead. That’s right: even if you aren’t there, Mommy or Daddy can still read their favorite book to them.

There are a whole lot of other features you can play with as well. You can use sound effects, alerts, and hot spots. There is a page selector so they can skip to ahead to a particular letter/page, and your recorded narration can be shared with anyone else who has the app.

Now that we know the features are fun and plentiful, what about the user interface? Well this doesn’t disappoint either. It was built with kids in mind so it is completely kid-friendly. Everything here is made to be engaging, fun, and a great learning experience. It allows kids to swipe through the pages, tap on the words, the pictures, and anything else. This app is all about encouraging kids to learn and they do that by exploring. Your kids will be giggling the whole way through the book while building their confidence in reading.

Final Thoughts

I am literally hooked on the Dr. Seuss ABC Lite app after just these few free pages. My son loves how fun it is, and the fact that he can listen to my voice narrating the story was incredibly exciting.
