Not sure what the weather is like outside? Why look out the window when you can look at YoWindow! See a stunning flourish of weather reports and forecasts in a beautiful and unique format, with the ability to view a changing landscape as the forecast changes simply by swiping left and right.
The best iPad apps for weatherWeather forecasting is typically a rather dull affair with information usually being presented in a dry and lifeless format, but YoWindow changes all of that!
With a gorgeously animated live landscape which changes with the weather in real time and comes accompanied by natural ambient sounds, this app will completely change the way you think about checking the weather.
When you first start using this app, it will use your device’s built-in GPS to determine your current location, so you’ll have access to weather forecasts for your local area within literally a few seconds.
The best iPhone apps for weatherAll of the usual information you would expect to find in a weather forecasting app is included in YoWindow, including temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind speed and direction, and more. If you prefer, you can of course get a nice overview of the current and future conditions simply by observing the live landscape.
As I mentioned in the introduction, sliding left and right enables you to move backwards and forwards in time to view future conditions, and as far as I can see, you can go as far as nine days into the future. This means you’ll have a full ten days of weather forecasting, perfect for checking the weather before you go on vacation.
There are some really nice background sounds which are unique to each landscape and weather type. I currently have my landscape set to Seaside so I’m being treated to the relaxing sound of crashing waves while I write this review!
Best iphone and ipad appsYou can also set your landscape to Village, Airport, Oriental, and Sky, each with its own animated background and unique set of sounds.
Besides the obvious esthetic qualities of YoWindow, I’m also impressed by the customization options. You can change all manner of units for temperature, wind speed, air pressure, and distance, or you can use one of the presets, such as US, UK, Metric, Finland, and Russia.
Another nice feature is Disable Auto-Lock which ensures your landscape remains onscreen without the screen locking.
Pros
Cons
YoWindow offers it all: detailed 10-day weather forecasting, loads of customization options, and a truly stunning interface complete with animated backgrounds and wonderful sounds.
The developer has done a fantastic job of pulling together form and function to deliver what I would say is one of the best weather apps I’ve had the pleasure of using.
