OkHello app review: free group video chat all over the world

Reviews

Introduction

Where many video chat providers fall short, OkHello has stepped in, offering free group video chat for you to connect with your friends and family no matter your location, as well as the option to gain more friends by inviting people from your Facebook and Twitter contact lists.

10 free apps worth checking out 2021

This is a very nicely designed app which makes it wonderfully easy to conduct group video calls with your contacts with a reasonable degree of call quality.

I like the way you can set up Rooms which serve as a lobby of sorts when there are three or more people entering your call. I would definitely recommend checking this out if you’re not getting everything you want from services such as Skype or Google Hangouts.

Free-of-Charge Group Video Calls

I love the interface design in this app. It has a soft, user-friendly look to it which I think makes OkHello very approachable for a variety of different audiences, so kudos to the developer there!

The best video chat apps for the iPhone

Simplicity seems to be the name of the game here, as you can jump straight into the fun by following the"‘add friends to get started" instruction which points to the Find Friends section.

The Find Friends section enables you to invite people directly from the contacts list on your iPhone, and you can also find existing OkHello users by simply typing in their username or email address.

Full IM and Media Sharing Capabilities

Failing that, you can submit posts to Facebook and Twitter inviting people to sign up for OkHello. I’m a little disappointed that you can’t directly invite specific people as this seems like it would be more targeted, but I suppose you could tag your friends in the post if you wanted to.

The best iPad apps for video chat

Once you’ve got some friends on OkHello you can start engaging them by creating a Room. This is essentially a lobby which enables you to start a group video call with three or more people, rather than simply a two-person chat.

As you might expect, you can also engage in IM chats complete with a selection of emoticons. What I’m more impressed by is the way you can also insert photos and videos into IM chats, as well as searching YouTube for videos from within OkHello and being able to share your current location.

  • IM functionality is included
  • Share photos, videos, and more with your friends
  • Find friends via Facebook, Twitter, and your iPhone contacts list
  • Very attractive and easy-to-use interface

Final Words

All in all, this is an awesome alternative video call app which includes pretty much all of the perks of an app such as Skype, but with the added bonus of allowing you to participate in group video calls at no extra cost.

That sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me!
