I find the name search to be pretty fun; just type in a name to get more information. In order to access all the name information, however, you need to purchase the full version of the app. In the free version all you can see is the origin of the name.

Wanting that Extra Bit More

I must admit after reading the developer’s description of this app the free version comes across rather under-whelming. I didn’t realize just how many features are not available to you.

The app claims you can read about the details, origin, pronunciation, and meaning, but this is actually only available in the paid version. For me the details about the name were what was most exciting. The full version of the app is available for $1.99, which seems pretty reasonable.

Other features in this app include being able to create your own favorite list of names that you can organize and edit. Go ahead and add in your last name and the baby's middle name for the full effect. Share names by Twitter or email to get input from your friends and family.

The other cool feature is the popularity list where you can see a list of boy and girl names in order of popularity.

Final Thoughts

Despite the fact that some of the main features aren’t available for free in the Baby Names™ app I still really enjoy it. It’s extremely quick and easy to use and I like that you can view pre-made lists and the list of popular names.
