To get started with Wishes by Elfster, you’ll need to begin by first creating a user account. Don’t worry though, because this can be done by using your Facebook account so you should be up and running within a matter of seconds.

Once you’re all set up, you’ll be taken to the Add to Wishlist section. From here, you can create a Photo Wish, Scan Wish, or Link Wish.  The former obviously just involves photographing the item you want, while Scan Wishes enable you to scan EAN/UPC Product Codes, QR Codes, and many more.

I also like the way the developer has included “Hints for successful scanning,” with guidelines for illumination, distance and other handy tidbits for making sure your barcode scans are effective.

Items added to your Wishlist can, of course, be accessed from the Wishlists section. In here you’ll see a full list of, well, your wishes, complete with thumbnail images to make browsing a little easier.

When you tap on one of your items, you’ll be able to edit details such as the Item URL, Item Title, and the quantity that you want, just don’t get too greedy!

There is a strange addition here, in that when you tap the Add to Wishlist option on each item, Wishes by Elfster appears to add a random item to your list. First it was a pair of socks, then a Chicago Blackhawks snapback, and finally, a Revel Flat Bread Maker! How peculiar!

• I’m not sure if this is an intentional addition by the developer, but tapping the Add to Wishlist option on each item within your wishlist adds a random item to your list

Final Words

I’m a little disappointed by the absence of a feature enabling you to share your wishlists with friends online via social media sites, but other than that, Wishes by Elfster is a great app for iPhone or iPad that I’m sure many of you are going to love!
