The Swamp Where Gator Hides app review: a fun tale

Reviews

Introduction

Children get awfully bored of the same stories read to them so why not spice up their routine with a fun new option. The Swamp Where Gator Hides app is a fun little book that follows the life of gators as they go about their daily life and hunt for food. This app can be used on your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone and is an interactive adventure like no other that your child has embarked on. This book manages to mix an engaging and entertaining story with some rather impressive features.

A Close Look at Swamps

With this book kids will get an up close and personal look at the life in swamps. It's funny because swamps are often very still and dull-looking but it's crazy just how much life is lurking below the surface, along the water's edge, and even on the water. The app is rated ages four and up but because of the content it's better suited for kids ages six to eight. Kids will not just learn about life in the swamp but also about these animals and how they live their lives. It’s an educational book tied up in a fun package.

The app has recently had a bug fix specifically with the duck that is in the gator game. It had not been working properly and this has now been fixed. As of right now the app doesn't have a customer rating but you will find plenty of complimentary comments. Parents are loving the content, the educational aspect, and the illustrations that bring this story to life.

Where to Start?

With this app the question is where to start? There are plenty of features to add to the intriguing and engaging content. When you launch the app kids get to choose between two different modes - Read to Myself or Read to Me. They may start off using one mode and move to the other as they become more familiar with the content. The book features games, interactive features (kids can actually touch the animals to see them react in realistic ways), and of course gain a much deeper understanding of the swamp creatures.

The best iPad apps for book lovers

I completely agree with the user on this one regarding the fabulous images, as they most definitely add to the story and overall experience in a big way. One minor issue is that sometimes the pages feel unresponsive and you need to tap them a few times before they turn.
