Pick a Monster
Toca Kitchen Monsters allows your child to choose between two monsters. There is a wild-looking one with brown hair, and a blue one that is a little friendlier-looking. Once you select your monster, you choose a food from the fridge. Your child can then drag the food directly to the monster’s mouth, or first chop it using the utensils on the right of the screen. I tried to dice a carrot, but it was a little tricky. Rather than sliding the knife to the carrot, I had to draw a line from the knife to the carrot and then through the carrot without taking my finger off the screen. It’s probably easier for little kids to do it this way though!

Monsters Don't Like Veggies
I found it pretty funny that until I fed the monster a sausage, the monsters in Toca Kitchen Monsters didn’t want to eat the carrot! Once I got it sliced up, the monster happily ate it. Maybe he just wanted it cut up more!

This is a simple game where your child grabs a food, and puts it in the monster’s mouth. They can choose to feed it directly or put it on the plate first. Your child can also switch monsters at any time.
My daughter did find the one monster a bit scary, but fortunately there are two monsters to choose from! She enjoyed cutting the food, and then dragging her pieces to the monster’s mouth, but it did take some practice and lots of “you do it, mommy!” The main thing is that she had fun, and as a two-year-old, she is right in the age group for which this games app was intended.

Final Thoughts
Toca Kitchen Monsters is an iPad and iPhone make-believe game for preschoolers. Your youngster chooses one of two monsters, then feeds them from the fridge. They also get to chop, dice, season, and more with the tools provided in the cupboard. My youngest, who is two, enjoyed feeding the monsters, and she happily ate up her veggies afterwards too! She tends to be a picky eater, so it was nice to have a kitchen role playing game to get her warmed up to the meal. Overall, it's fun and easy to play, so if you too have a picky eater, or just a child who wants to help in the kitchen, give this app a whirl!
